If your custody and parenting time orders include the Indiana Parenting Time Guidelines, one way to set your family up for success in the New Year is to prepare a parenting time calendar for the entire year.
Find a fillable calendar for 2025, then one parent should:
- First, include each parent’s holidays, special days, each parent’s birthday and the child(ren)’s birthday(s) in accordance with the provisions of the Indiana Parenting Time Guidelines.
- Next, include each parent’s alternating weekend parenting time.
- If the noncustodial parent has not made their selection for the Summer break from school, leave space for that to be added, but note the last day of school for the Spring semester and the first day of school for the Fall semester.
Both parents should then review the calendar to see if they agree with the calendar as prepared. If both parents agree, both parents should initial or sign the bottom of each page of the calendar.
If there are disagreements, the parents should attempt to have a meaningful, respectful conversation and resolve any issues with the calendar. If the parents are unable to agree, that is when they should contact the legal representatives involved in their case, whether that is a mediator, a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) or attorney(s).
